MPs Visit CASSOA
04th April, 2018. Members of the Ugandan National Parliament paid a courtesy call visit to EAC CASSOA. The delegation comprised of Members of EAC Affairs Committee headed by their Chairman Hon. Ayoo Tonny and Vice Chairman Hon. Ouma George Abbot. The legislators were received by Mr Ambrose Akandonda on behalf of CASSOA Board Chairman, Ag. Executive Director Mr Emile Arao, Eng. Christopher Njenga, Board Expert and EAC CASSOA Staff and Interns present.
Hon. Ayoo said the Committee has been visiting all EAC Institutions hosted in the Republic of Uganda in order to familiarize with activities, challenges faced by Institutions and planning together on a way forward.
The meeting was opened by Singing EAC Anthem followed by a prayer Led by Ag. Executive Director. EAC CASSOA Staff and interns were given an opportunity to introduce themselves during the meeting. A comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation about EAC CASSOA was done followed by a Q & A session.
Honorable Members were interested to Know why the cost of Air Transport is High in the region and what EAC CASSOA can do as an oversight body towards this challenge. A number of responses and proposals were given to Hon Members. The meeting also Brainstormed on current local Training centers for Aviators in the Region and how such centers like Soroti can be re activated. During the discussion issues on fast tracking Civil Aviation Act whenever brought to Parliament for review came about and it was realised such Acts needs to be prioritised.
The Committee chairman promised to work closely with EAC CASSOA to ensure that both the Parliament and the Agency work together toward promoting a safe and secure regional aviation industry.
The meeting was closed by Mr Ambrose Akandonda, Board Expert and thereafter Honorable members went back to Kampala.
