Regional Aviation Safety Experts to Convene in Dar es Salaam for Aircraft Airworthiness and Air Carrier Certification Workshop
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – May 2026 – The Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) will host a four-day Aircraft Airworthiness and Air Carrier Certification Training Workshop from 26th to 29th May 2026 in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania. The workshop will take place at Four Points by Sheraton Dar es Salaam.
Held under the theme “Enhancing Aviation Safety: Strengthening Airworthiness and Air Carrier Certification Standards,” the workshop aims to strengthen the technical and regulatory capacity of aviation safety inspectors across the East African Community (EAC) region.
The aviation industry continues to evolve rapidly due to technological advancements, increasing air traffic, and complex regulatory requirements. In response, the workshop will provide Airworthiness and Flight Operations Inspectors with updated knowledge and practical skills necessary to enhance aviation safety oversight and compliance systems.
Participants will receive in-depth training on key areas including aircraft airworthiness regulations, continuing airworthiness processes, Air Operator Certificate (AOC) issuance and surveillance, approved maintenance organizations, safety management systems, and regulatory documentation.
The workshop will feature renowned aviation safety experts and ICAO-certified instructors, including Milton Tumusiime, an experienced aviation safety specialist and former ICAO Flight Safety Officer, and Millicent Chahonyo, a seasoned pilot and former Flight Operations Inspector with extensive operational and regulatory experience.
Speaking on the significance of the workshop, organizers noted that strengthening inspector competencies and harmonizing oversight practices are critical to improving operational safety and regulatory effectiveness within the region.
The training is specifically designed for Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Airworthiness and Flight Operations Inspectors and will be delivered through instructor-led classroom sessions, case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises.
Expected outcomes include improved understanding of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), enhanced audit and certification capabilities, and stronger collaboration between aviation regulators and industry stakeholders.
