EAC Council of Ministers appoints new CASSOA Executive Director
20th October 2018. The 37th Extra Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Arusha via video conference appointed Mr Emile Nguza Arao as the Executive Director of the Agency. Mr Arao was the Deputy Executive Director (Technical) at EAC CASSOA.
The meeting was Chaired by Rt. Hon. Dr. A.M Kirunda Kivejinja, 2nd Prime Minister, Minister for East African Community Affairs, the Republic of Uganda.
According to Article 10 of the EAC CASSOA Protocol, “The Executive Director shall be appointed by the Council on recommendation of the Board and on such terms and conditions as the Council may determine”. The Protocol also stipulates that this position will be filled on a competitive Basis and under the principal of rotation. The Executive Director shall be responsible to the Board.
